Metrocrest Services Safety Guidelines During COVID-19

Metrocrest Service is still operating during regular business hours, and is in need of volunteers to assist the food pantry so they can continue to serve our neighbors in need during this difficult time. Minimum volunteer age for this activity is 13 years old, volunteers aged 13-15 must volunteer with a parent.

Due to COVID-19, please be advised that we a re following the CDC recommendations we are asking that if: 
  • You have recently traveled outside of Texas
  • Anyone exhibiting flu like symptoms, or who has recently gotten over an illness
Your health and safety is our top priority and concern!

Volunteer tasks reflect new COVID-19 social-distancing guidelines:
  • The number of volunteers per shift has been limited to a maximum of 6-12 at any time.
  • Volunteers will have their temperature taken during check-in.
  • Volunteers must wear masks during their shifts (gloves will be optional). Metrocrest will provide gloves and masks.

AmeriCorps Serves Here

Help local low-income families fight hunger while ensuring more families have a reason to smile this holiday season. Apply to become a Metrocrest Services AmeriCorps fall seasonal programs Member!

Metrocrest Services is seeking one quarter time (QT) AmeriCorps member for Thanksgiving and Holiday programs. During service the member will help coordinate, implement, and facilitate the Thanksgiving and Holiday food and gift programs, as well as serve in our Drive-Thru Food Pantry.

AmeriCorps members serve a minimum of 450 hours over a 4 month period (the service term would be from 5/10/21-8/13/21) an average of 35 hours per week. During service Meber will earn a living allowance totaling $3,000 which equates to approximately $400 in biweekly pay (pre-tax), upon completion of service hours members will receive an education award of $1,612.43 to use for tuition or student loans.

Member Requirements: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria in order to be eligible to apply.

  • 17 years or older
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Deferred Action or Temporary Permanent Resident does not qualify)
  • Commitment to serve the community

What is the minimum age to volunteer? 
Minimum age for volunteer shifts is 13 yrs old.  Volunteers between the ages of 13 and 15 yrs old must be accompanied by parent.  At 16 yrs old volunteers may volunteer without parental supervision.

Where will I go for my volunteer shift?
Volunteer shift and seasonal program locations vary based on activity.  Locations are generally noted during registration.

Food pantry is located on-site at: 13801 Hutton Drive, Suite 150 Farmers Branch, TX 75234
Resale Store shifts is located:  2661 Midway Road, Suite 207, Carrollton, TX 75006 (Bent Tree Shopping Plaza)

Do you have weekends or evenings volunteer positions?
Yes. Weekend and evening positions are available through our Resale Store. Some weekend and evening shifts are also available through seasonal programs.

Are background checks required?
Certain positions require a background check prior to volunteering, which include, Home Delivered Meals, Transportation, and Minor Home Repair programs.

Can I work my Community Service Restitution (CSR) hours at Metrocrest Services?
Yes, Metrocrest Services accepts CSR applicants. Hours are available through our food pantry and Resale Store. We cannot accomodate the following offenses: theft, assault/physical violence, and sexually related offenses.

Can I fulfill requirements for high school, college, or my social organization?
Yes, students can register for any of our volunteer opportunities. Please note, that most service hours available outside of seasonal programs are available during the weekdays.

Can my group volunteer?
Yes, Seasonal programs offer the most options for groups. Groups are also needed to assist with minor home repair projects, and for other special tasks. Please complete the group volunteer request form.
